Emergence of hadrons from quarks and gluons

About the activity

The Lagrangian of QCD in terms of its fundamental degrees of freedom has been known to us for half a century. Still, we fail to understand well the emergent phenomena of confinement and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking. Yet we believe these phenomena dictate the spectrum and properties of the whole plethora of mesons and baryons. We seek answers to these questions through a non-perturbative treatment of continuum QCD, make comparisons with experiment and provide predictions for future explorations. The hope is to achieve a unified picture to understand the internal structure of hadrons, starting from the dynamics of quarks and gluons.

About the speaker

Adnan Bashir

Dr. Adnan Bashir did his PhD in the field of particle physics from Durham University, England in 1995. Currently, he is serving as Professor at the Institute of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Michoacán in Mexico which he joined in 1998. 

He has collaborated with about 60 international researchers from 15 different countries. Dr. Bashir has delivered more than 100 seminars/lectures in national and international conferences around the world. Dr. Bashir has trained 22 research students at different academic levels: 4 post doctoral fellows, 8 Ph.D. students, 10 master students and 6 undergraduates. 


Dr. Bashir has published 96 papers, 58 of these are published in international refereed journals. His publications have attracted more than 1900 citations. He has been a reviewer of several international prestigious journals such as Physical Review, Journal of Physics G., Foundations of Physics, Few Body Systems, Physics Letters B and Mexican Journal of Physics.
